Weekly Menu Plan #15 ~ Simplifying Before Baby

We are counting down until baby number five changes our lives forever.  I feel myself winding down and at the same time feeling the need to nest.  Part of nesting for me is pruning trees and bushes and planting bare roots, as well as preparing lesson plans ahead of time, stocking the freezer with meals,  teaching the kids some new foods to prepare on their own, and, of course, cleaningcleaningcleaning.  Something's gotta give, you know?  So these meal plans will become more and more simple over the next five weeks, and then they'll probably disappear for a couple months as we eat up all the frozen meals and bond with the babe.

  2. Yay for babys!!! Congrats on your soon to be here bundle! I hope you are able to get lots of rest in these final days

I am curious how the chicken fried steak turned out with almond flour? does it crisp up like regular flour does? Also, I'm assuming you didn't use canola, did you use coconut oil? Finally, (sorry for so many questions) did you also make the gravy using almond flour? If so, how did that turn out??? I would LOVE to try this recipe and we are completely grain free at this point...

By the way, I've been listening to Furious non stop and love it!

  3. Thank you! Almond flour works great for the breading and I use arrowroot powder for the gravy (like 1 Tablespoon arrowroot instead of 1/3 cup flour). And yes. Definitely coconut oil instead of canola oil. :) It turned out great!

  4. Wow, you like to plan ;). Congrats on baby #5! I have a great recipe for beef stew which is delicious but I've never tasted it with root.

  5. I too am both winding down and nesting for baby (#4 for me)... I don't know how you're doing all that you're doing though- I thoroughly cleaned the bathroom on Saturday and then could barely move the rest of the day!! Your meal plans look great- I need to check out some of the links- I also like how you have "To do"s as part of them... I always forget those prep steps and then end up not prepared for what I had planned to do!

  6. I'm counting down for baby #1 who is due in six weeks. I've would love to stock the freezer with meals, but not many of my dishes freeze well. Do you have any recommendations? I would love to know what you are stashing in your freezer. Congrats on baby #5!
