Kidisms

Kidisim
noun
1 quotes or expressions coined by children; mainly mine: 4-year-olds make the best kidisms.

*****

I started sharing kidisms a couple years ago.  Some things that are uttered out of the mouths of babes are just too good to keep to oneself, plus I don't want to forget them.  I thought jotting them down on the ol' bloggeroo was a good place to document.

*****

* A few days ago, 4-year-old was quietly looking at the address numbers on our house for quite some time.  Then she finally said, "That says our house is worth $14."

* Today at a special breakfast out, 4-year-old looked up and exclaimed, "You guys are the best family I ever had."

The Good Lord only knows what might be said next.  The kicker will be who it's said to and where it's spoken.  I am praying for grace.  Some kidisms are... less than polite.  I leave you with this last one as an example: It was about 5 years ago at Costco.  Again, it was a 4-year-old.  We were standing in line and the woman behind us who obviously came straight from the gym started up a conversation with my little girl.  Everything was fine and cute until 4-year-old asked, "Where is your shirt?" She was wearing a sports bra/top/thingy.  I nervously laughed and said, "Obviously it's been a while [as in never] since she's seen her mommy in gym clothes [that shows tummy]."  My heart is anxiously racing just recalling that story.  I need to find my happy place.  Now.

It is bright and happy outside, and we're dragging the family out for a lovely garden/yard workday and they WILL enjoy it. ;)

  1. Hey there Katie!
I came across your Kidisms posts and thought you might be interested in http://kidisms.com - I put together the site after the majority of my friends started having children. It was the only nerdy thing I could do to contribute! It's a way for them to have a record of all the classic things kids say and do, and allow them to share them all with the rest of us. Hope you enjoy.

    Happy Holidays!
